How to Protect Your Eyes When Using a Computer

Computer and Health
Nowadays, people spend lots of time in front of a computer. After long hours of sitting and no exercise, many of us develop health issues like neck pain, back pain, wrist pain, dry eyes and vision problem. Our immune system also weakens. We get sick easily and it takes longer for us to recover. However, there are things we can do to prevent or eliminate the negative impact that High Tech imposes on our health.
Let’s start with the food we eat. Again, as I said many times before, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially to those who sit in front of a monitor all day long, staring at the screen for hours at a time. A nutrient-balanced meal helps us maintain our energy level, so that we are able to perform tasks that are both physically and mentally demanding.
For lunch, one should have a meal that is rich in protein, such as white meat (Chicken/fish etc.), beans and tofu. As for dinner, anything heavy or hard to digest should be scratched from the menu. A healthy dinner contains mostly vegetables or food that is high in fiber. Vitamin A is very good for our eyes. We can either take daily Vitamin A supplement, or food such as liver, milk, walnut, carrots, spinach, tomato, Goji Berries and some fresh fruits. Also, egg yolk, fish, shrimp, walnut and peanut are good for our brain.
Last but not the least, exercise, for every hour or two spend in front of a computer, we should exercise for a few minutes, and do some simple stretch, sit-ups, or look out the window just to relax our eyes (Yes, tell your boss it’s all for a good cause and he/she should try it sometimes).
