Is it easier to give up cigarettes or sweets?
This is a question for the smokers and the diabetics! Unfortunately I was both! Now a former smoker.
Congratulations on being a non-smoker!!! For me, it would definitely be easier to give up sweets ~ although I should do both
Both are hard to give up because of the Brain's addiction to sweets or nicotine. However slowly reducing your use or consumption (Say, you only enjoy it to reward yourself for doing something) then you begin to see less of a need for it.Then you can rewad yourself by other means.
One can be addicted to the nicotine in tobacco (in addition, there is a component to smoking that can be classified as a habit.
However, eating sugar containing substances, or sweets, is a habit, but eating sugars is not classified as an addition.
This is not to say that a "strong," or deep-rooted habit may be a difficult thing to break. It is possible that, psychologically, one crave sugars.
It is not easy to say which is easier to give up, cigarettes or sugars. It depends of the individual, and it will have to be determined on a case by case basis.

Dr. Haddox
BIG difference between the two. Sweets consumed in small amounts will not kill you, while smoking will. (Say, lung cancer? Mouth cancer? Hair loss? You name it.) I suggest giving up the smoking first, then slowly cutting back. If the sweets issue has gotten so out of hand that you have diabetes, then they are equally detrimental to your health. Take a minute to think how much you're killing yourself.
Quit smoking and drinking years ago, but just can't seem to kick the carbs and sugar. I think sometimes it's worse than the booze or cigarettes
I also think that because they don't claim it to be a medical condition that many misjudge people for being weak or having no will power.
I also have a bad addiction to Coke (regular not diet), I literally crave it at times as if it were something I had to have.
Congrats on the quitting.
Probably sweets, I don't have any intention on giving up cigarettes anytime soon.

Are there any downsides to using electronic cigarettes to quit smoking?I've tried everything else. Now I plan on purchasing an E-cig (though not that brand) to help me quit. Are there any downsides to using these? Are they any worse for me than the cigarettes I'm already smoking?

To those who smoke, have you tried quitting? What are the ways that you use to quit smoking?I'm trying to understand how smokers have been trying to quit their habit of smoking. I used to smoke myself, but I simply went cold turkey and have tried a technique to change my mindset about smoking. This...
