   What did your parents teach you regarding  being fired from a job?  Did they convey that being
   
   fired from a job was a career-killer, disgrace, &/or a fate worse than the darkest hell?  Or did they convey that being fired was just a mishap &/or when one door closes, other doors will be opened?

   It's probably more in line with when one door closes a window opens. Essentially we were taught to expect life to throw us curves but not get overwhelmed. It's not the end of the world! Life goes on.
   Generally speaking in the end everything works out for the best. I can't tell you how many disappointments I've had in life that led me into a new direction which took me to a place on the other side of the storm that was better. I look back and say if blah blah hadn't happened I would not have done such and such which led me to meet this person and so on.
   The last few years I've been striving to learn to embrace these "storms" that come along and see them as a sort of gateway to growth or a step up the mountain. As the old saying goes:
   No pain, no gain. The road to victory is paved with disappointments. Many successful entrepreneurs were pushed out of jobs they had no plans of ever leaving. Necessity is the mother of all invention.
   Like anyone I would rather have smooth sailing in life. However most lives including mine have a little bit of a "roller coaster" ride effect from time to time. Sometimes one has to take a couple steps backward in order to make a giant leap forward.
   How one reacts to what happens is more important than what happens. Life is strange that way.

      Good attitude indeed.  I was taught that being fired is a disgrace, a career killer, which is to be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. I was also taught that failure is UNPARDONABLE, UNFORGIVABLE! One MUST ALWAYS SUCCEED!

   It is a quite common fact that people, will be fired from a job. Even, I have experienced a thing, last week. I have been fired from my online work, which I was doing, since 7 months. Even, I have become the second income earner of my house, due to that online job.
   
         As soon as I hear that, I was fired from that job. I told the same thing to my father, He hasn't told me, anything about that missing job. He just suggested me, to look for some other work. and I agree with your fact that, If a door is closed, then there will be another door which opens for us.
   
         When children faces a situation like this, It is the responsibility of the parents, to guide them, in a right way, saying the real facts of world. and the well known fact of this world is, Success will never be with us, all the time. Sometimes, we have to face failures.

      that is the mature way to be.  However, there are parents who refuse to tolerate failure of any kind. They endlessly rehash mistakes/failures that their children made. They believe that ALL must be PERFECT AT  ALL TIMES!

   My parents raised me to be successful & to AVOID any type of failure.  They were of the school that to fail for whatever reason is a serious detriment to success.  Not only my parents but my teachers were the same way.  The latter exhorted that failing result in a less than prosperous life.   My parents indicated that to be fired damages any prospect of future employment  & any type of career success. 
   
   To my parents, being fired means that one has to accept the crumbs of life.  They maintain that being fired means THE END; furthermore, no other company will want a fired employee for he/she is damaged goods.   They assert that highly successful people were never failures nor fired.  They view being fired from a job as akin to a serious damnable, mortal transgression.   They inculcated into me that when one is fired from a job, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO HOPE regarding having a career.   Not only my parents but many of their friends inculcated this ideology into their children.  There was one parent who considered her adult child an abysmal failure because the latter was fired from a job.

      Wow, with all due respect, this sounds like a lot of people in your life who needed a bit of perspective.  Everyone fails at something at some point - it's those who keep getting back up that find the best successes in life.

      Having a mindset like this causes some people to sink into a deep depression/consider suicide when life throws them a curve. My mother used to say: "I was looking for a job when I found this one!" No one wants to be fired but it's not the end!

      To ChristinS & Dashing, some people have such a dour outlook on life, they believe that being fired IS THE END. They inculcate this premise unto their children which result in some becoming quite suicidal when things go awry!
