   I'm 27 my partner is 42. Can his age be an issue why I don't get pregnant?
   
   Hi I'm 27 years old, I have a 8 years old daughter but I've been trying for a year to get pregnant with no success. I used Clomid this month and Waiting to get a positive result. My partner is 42 years old.

   Shouldn't be a problem at all. However to be sure you can always have a Dr. request a sperm count from a lab.

   Stop trying.It may be old-fashioned advice but it's true. When you try too hard you can "psych" your body out. Other things to take into consideration...
   
   How stressed are you? Too much stress shuts down certain chemicals in the body that are required to work together to get pregnant.
   
   How's your diet? A woman's body will not accept pregnancy if your diet is out of whack. Too many proteins? Not enough proteins? Decent variety of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis? Too much salt? Too much or too little sugar? Do you snack through out the day? Too much snacking can throw the vitamin and mineral balance out. Large amounts of caffeine? All of these things can off set the required balance. A body needs certain levels of functioning vitamins, minerals, proteins, iron, and carbs before a pregnancy will stick, this is so the body knows that you can support and maintain a life to term.
   
   If you are in doubt, try taking pre-natal vitamins now before you get pregnant in order to bring about the proper balance. You can get them over the counter at most drug stores. Don't worry they won't hurt you. It's like taking a multvitamin but with a more complete structure for pregnancy.
   
   On his side, if he wears tighty whiteys or any underwear that keeps his testicles too close to his body, the heat can kill off sperm before it has a chance to relocate; especially if he burns hot when he sleeps. Request boxers for while and when hanging out at home have him go commando under those sweat pants to allow more air circulation and cooling.

   Age alone is certainly not enough to stop you from getting pregnant...I am 24, and currently 25 weeks pregnant with my 50-year-old husband's baby. As long as everything is still functioning, then the only possible visible age-related problem is not there. That said, there are many different health factors that could be an issue even if you both seem perfectly healthy.
   
   Fertility tests are definitely a good idea, though bear in mind that if he tests low there are still some things that could be affecting the count...and it can change quite a bit. One of my husband's good friends was told that he couldn't have kids after they did a sperm count, and now his wife is pregnant with #5. A doctor can help you with some things you both can do to raise sperm count, etc. and stress can cause irregular periods and much shorter or nonexistent windows in which you could get pregnant. C.A Johnson already gave you some awesome advice on this, so I won't rehash it, but you definitely don't have to give up because of age.

   Age shouldn't be an issue. Health might be. Certain longterm medications can lower a man's sperm count. Read the side effects associated with any he might be on, then maybe you should both have a consultation with your physician...checking his sperm count would be a good way to get the ball rolling. Once you know what the problem is, you can figure out how to fix it.
