Do you know the most important habits you need to be committed to as a new entrepreneur?
Preview 18… When you choose your business. When you commit to that business of choice and you put together your massive action plan. There are a few very important things you must do right from the very beginning if you want to be successful with your business of choice. There are some very important habits and disciplines you have to do as a new entrepreneur in the business arena.
Do you know how to employ yourself?
First off, you're going to have to learn how to employ yourself. You see, most people know how to be an employee, but most have very little experience about how to be the employer
So again, the first line of duty is to learn how to employ yourself. GAP; write that down, it's very important. Because being an entrepreneur, you have to be both employee and employer, not to mention all the other hat's you have to wear. Not only are you going to develop the skills of becoming both the employee and the employer in your head, in your mind and in your DMO (daily method of operation) …you're also going to be the person who sets the job requirements, the rules and regulations and the SOP (standard operating procedures). You're also going to be the person who performs those job requirements.
You must pay attention to the smallest of details.
You also have to set the time to start and the time to quit, time to eat, time for lunch, time to take a break, time to stop and time to clean up. Adding to those small details, you have to be the one to see that the jobs being done right and done on time. And, you're going to be the one to answer when the jobs not done right or done on time.
You see, learning to employ yourself means accepting full responsibility.
Full responsibility for:
- What needs to be done.
- When it needs to be done.
- Why it needs to be done.
- Where it needs to be done.
- How it needs to be done.
And done right, the first time to the best of your ability.
Demand nothing less than our personal best!
Remember what I said before. You can lie to other people if you want to ...but you can't afford to lie to yourself about what you're doing, how you're doing it, how busy you are and your responsibility as the employee or the employer. That doesn't work here. The only thing that works here with your own business is, developing the habits, the disciplines and demanding and expecting nothing less than your personal best!
- You didn't start your own business to do just OK.
- You didn't start your own business to do just all right.
- You didn't start your own business to just get by.
You started your own business to do exceptional. So, step out and make a difference. Step out and make your mark. That's what it takes folks. That's what it takes when you're both the employee and the employer. That's what it takes when you make the choice and become an entrepreneur. You have to set the standards.
Are you making feeble excuses?
Case in point, if you were paying someone else to do your job, would you let him or her show up late for work? Would you let them take time off whenever they felt like it? Would you pay them for working two hours instead of the full eight hours? Would you accept feeble excuses for not performing the job requirements? Would you allow them to change the rules and regulations?
Of course not, certainly not! So, you must not accept that level of performance from yourself either. Not if you're serious about building your financial security with your own business.
Remember …you are the only one that can make your commitment happen!
Think about this. You and you alone, are the only person that can make you, do what it takes to make your business successful.
You have to take full responsibility. It's your responsibility as the employee and the employer and you have to be very serious about it.
One of the most important lessons you can learn as a human being, as a person in business, as an entrepreneur, as a self employed business owner, is how to make yourself fully responsible to your own business, to yourself and to your family.
Master the skill of self-responsibility ladies and gentlemen and you're on your way to a lifetime of untold wealth and happiness.
