I had NOD 32 after my McAfee antivirus expired. It installed and worked well for about two days. Then it crashed and told me to re install.I then couldn't re install.so then I used the NOD 32 uninstaller to try to get rid of it completely.Didn't work! Then none of my Office 2007 files wouldnt open .The only thing that worked was to go into the registry and delete the leftover items like you explained. Bingo, that was what worked! Thank you so much
