   Because we are conditioned from the time we are born to want more, more, more. More money, more stuff, more kids, more toys, more love, more, more, more of everything. People place too much emphasis on what they "should" have or want, rather than what they do have or need.  Anyone can see we are bombarded with new products on a continual basis. Nothing is ever good enough...you've got to have the newest and greatest!
   But the truth is, "stuff" never made anyone happier - not in the long run anyway. In my life of 51 years, I have had lots of money and then had none; Had money, then none and so it goes... I realized that it didn't define me. What made me feel "satisfied" was appreciating my life, myself and the people in it. I know that if I never had another penny in the bank, I have people who love me and care about me. I believe that satisfaction comes from within, not from without - and that's the problem with our society.  We are too driven by "stuff".

   There are only two directions in life forward or reverse, it you try to keep things the same you'll probably go in reverse. It's not about things but about filling the void in ourselves.

   Life is a journey; we're always growing and learning more. So, I think it's natural to want new and different things (not necessarily material ones). For example, if someone hates their job, it's only natural to want a new one, or even if they like their job, maybe they think they can contribute more to a different company. Being unsatisfied with what you have isn't necessarily a bad thing; it can make you strive to be better.
   
   Having said that, modern society is constantly bombarded by advertisements telling them to get the next greatest thing. This is for no other reason than the already bloated company to get even more bloated with our money. So there is definitely a threshold. Having a cell phone might make you happy because you can stay in contact with friends and family, but do you really need that new phone that's two weeks newer than your old phone? Probably not.

   it is a sheer human tendency to follow something they dream of, and quite coincidentally whatever a human dreams of is always more than what s/he had 'dreamt' of ...probably god never wanted us to stop thinking about achieving more and more in life..!!!
   
   however i should might as well highlight that there should be a line drawn after a point...for there is a very fine line between need of growth and greed..
   
   therefore what i feel is that there is no harm in being dissatisfied, if we simultaneously cherish what we have achieved!!
