   Does a fast approaching writing deadline make you freeze? or make you excel?
   
   I always try to get everything done way ahead of schedule, but have found this past week I have been right on deadline with some assignments.  At first I panicked, but then the closer the deadline got, the better I wrote. It was almost like a little adrenaline helped push me through.  What are your experiences with deadlines?

   My whole family is a bunch of procrastinators... we stress out so much that we always wait until the night before it's due, no matter how long it is, to get it done. We often find ourselves stocking up on caffeine and munchies!
   I'd say it makes me excell

   I've never accepted deadlines, I do whatever I want in my own time.

   I personally work better under pressure. I actually have a whole bunch of research to get through, by March 6th. I thought about it last night: I still have over a week - lots of time ... LOL
   
   I do keep in mind the story of the turtle and the rabbit/hare though.
   I can go on for several days on end with research and writing, almost non-stop. So, it usually works just fine.

   If there's a deadline involved I do it immediately and put it behind me as I don't like deadlines at all. They're kind of like an ultimatum in my mind and I've never accepted those very well. The immediate attention I give keeps me out of the "fast approaching" situation so I never have to face a case of nerves or worry about it. Guess this is kind of a "chicken" attitude -- but guarantees peace and tranquility!

   I hate working under pressure. It doesn't suit me at all. When I write I prefer to have plenty of time to polish my writing before submitting it.

   While I have been known to crank out some pretty good stuff under pressure of a looming deadline, I've come to realize it's really much better to get the writing done at least a day ahead of time so it can sit and then I can re-read it for typos and polishing.
   
   Regardless of whether or not I wait till the last minute to do the writing, I've often done the research and have been letting the information/idea "percolate" in the back of my mind so when I do sit down, I've already got a pretty good idea how I'll craft the piece.

    I like to feel the adrenaline of getting closer and closer to the deadlines that are set for me. I write better that way. I try to set deadlines for myself, in order to feel more of this adrenaline.

    I absolutely work better with a deadline! I think that mentally, it gives me comfort to know that there's an end to whatever I'm writing about, that the mental space I give that piece of work will only be occupied for as long as it takes me to write it.

    If I've prepared an outline, and my thoughts have been well organized I excel when a deadline is approaching. I believe it is when I do my best writing!

    For me it is the second.
    Because when I have plenty of time I think and plan every word so I progress very slowly. When I am running out of time I am more original.
