Can you identify this plant?
It looks like wild grape (vitis riparia) which grows uncontrollably in woodlands, over ground, shrubs, and trees. Although it usually doesn't cause a blistering rash like poison ivy, it can cause itching and skin irritation. The hardest thing is getting rid of it! It takes vigilance and patience because most herbicices work through the leaves but don't affect the seeds that scatter during clean-up.
First, thoroughly spray the plant w/ Round-Up (or another glyphoshate herbicide) until run-off on the leaves. Once the dead leaves and vines are cleared away, thoroughly water again to sprout any seeds in the soil. Once they have leafed out, repeat the treatment. Any woody stems or stumps need to be treated w/ a brush-on vine killer. Keep an eye out for any new sprouts and remove immediately. Eventually you should be able to eradicate it. Hang in there!
