What makes for a successful trip to Wal-Mart?

Is it to get in and out as quickly as possible?  Or, is taking your time and saving some money the best way?  OORRR, is the only successful trip the one that ends up not being made?

I think it depends on a few things. Sadly enough if you live in my town it's the hook up place. *hides face in shame* Luckily I'm married cause I wouldn't want to be sitting in the frozen food section saying lines like, "So I see you're getting frozen peas. Is that cause you have to pee?" then running off all embarrassed cause I'm an idiot. So whether you are bargain shopping, quick grabbing or looking for a date, circumstance defines your trip as successful or not.

I would have to go with the latter, as I tend to avoid Walmart whenever possible wink

Your question itself is suggestive. Wal-Mart isn't just some store anymore, is it? I guess it hasn't merely been a store for quite some time now. Its an experience. All do to the power of branding, as Naomi Klein would say.

Your question is interesting on another level. I understand its tongue-in-cheek, still great truths come from humor. One wants to have a 'successful' trip to Wal-Mart. We don't talk that way about other venues, do we? Do we want to make a successful trip to the park? Or a successful trip to Shop Rite or Shop N Stop? Or to the barber shop?

I could be wrong, of course, but its almost as if one wants to make a good impression on the personnel at Wal-Mart. When you say 'to get in and out as quickly as possible?' Does one want to impress them with his or her efficiency? I know you're not asking this question for yourself, ryancarter. You're just having fun. I guess I'm just saying its amazing how Wal-Mart has penetrated our collective psyche.

    Take care.

I guess I started cutting down my trips to Wal-mart about a year ago. Unfortunately I live in a rural area and sometimes it is just unavoidable to make the dreaded trip. Yes I do like saving money but sometimes I feel like I end up spending more by the things I buy that I may or may not really need at that time. It can really be a double edged sword for me. I have managed to cut it down to about once a month.

I don't watch much TV anymore except for college football. Didn't Walmart have a commercial a few years ago with some seniors entering a store, speaking to the door greeter and seeing some other "regulars"?

A lot of people visit Walmart EVERY day, especially in small towns where WM started out.

Even though they may not be going to "hook up", in many cases, a successful trip to Walmart is one where you see some friends. Many folks enjoy shopping or just looking around while waiting on their photo finishing or prescriptions.
