No, I think they are mainly a threat to themselves.

The idea that its begun to believe its own propoganda is scarier than any nuclear threat to the U.S.  So much for Kim Jong-Un being better than his father.

I believe that any nation that continually harrases another is a threat to the one doing the harrasing. The US has for too long bullied many nations and N.Korea being one of them.
Also, I am not a fan of nuclear weapons, but as long as the US has them, I believe countries like N Korea, Iran etc must have them for the purpose of defence and ballancing power.

There is no reason for Iran to have nuclear weapons. They are too unstable to do such. They would blow Israel off of the map starting World war III.

thomasczechposted 11 years agoin reply to this

there is no need for the US (most unstable nation in the world)  to have them either. Considering they are the only nation to have ever used Nuc's...not once but twice and on civillians. It's too bad that such evil devices exsist.

That was a necessity of war. Our leaders aren't a bunch of Islam extremists who are so irresponsible as to attack another nation unprovoked. That is just utter nonsense. The Iranians have proved they are a rogue nation who cannot be trusted with nucs

thomasczechposted 11 years agoin reply to this

so u believe it is ok to murder civillians? The US leaders may not be islam extremists, but they are extremists of another sort. Illegal invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Attempting to force others to bend to their will, and if not then threaten.

Complete and utter nonsense. People hate us until they need help. And, of course the US is first in line to help.

No.  The United States is a threat to the DPRK and the rest of the world.  Who does North Korea invade? Which countries has it subjugated to it's will?  Who have they bombed lately?

What I hate is the constant wars of aggression, forming puppet states, the system of poverty it inflicts of the world.  I hate bullies, and I hate the culture of blaming the victim eg Cuba, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine.

LOL......... Who invaded Afghanistan in the 80's? Not for moral reasons either.

    8. Comrade Joe profile image68
Comrade Joeposted 11 years agoin reply to this

No-one.  In the 80's the US funded and armed what would become the Taliban to overthrow the socialist government of Afghanistan.  The legitimate government requested Soviet assistance to quell the terrorists.  Intervention, not invasion.

Legitimate government? That treats women like animals?

    10. Comrade Joe profile image68
Comrade Joeposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I think you are quite confused.  Under the socialist government girls went to school with boys, became doctors, nurses and teachers.  It was the US who backed the islamist terrorists to overthrow this and the Soviet Union who defended womens rights,.

Communists invaded to promote tyranny and communism. The US invaded to prevent tyranny and communism.

The US replaced the socialist government with the Taliban and you say you were fighting tyranny, how warped.  You put in place of an equal society one that subjugates woman and you have the cheek to say you opposed tyranny.  Study some history.

JThomp42, you're wasting your time.  More than 60 million murdered and starved under Mao, 10 million under Stalin.  The communist pretend people don't flee Cuba on life rafts in shark infested waters to get to the USA.Why, because its so great there

My uncle was smuggled out of czechoslovakia in a crate in the 1960's because of the communist tyranny.  That's all the research I need.  Interesting you live in Britiain and not North Korea. My cuban friends in Miami might disagree.

    19. Comrade Joe profile image68
Comrade Joeposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I don't deny communist repression, I am proud of it.  But when you throw spurious stats around you lose all credibility.  Class enemies deserve repression.  It's called progress.  Just a shame he didn't meet the fate he deserved.

Yes, Freedom is dangerous isn't it.  This is why I said your wasting your time. People who believe political dissenters should be subjugated are the essence of tyranny.  Ofcourse the political class is never among those subjugated.

    21. Comrade Joe profile image68
Comrade Joeposted 11 years agoin reply to this

All states have class oppression.  I only care the character of the oppression and who is being oppressed.  Rather than the minority exploiting the majority like in most states, I support the toiling majority oppressing the minority ex-exploiters.

    22. LandmarkWealth profile image66
LandmarkWealthposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Call it what you want.  People in the US are free to come and go.  And your opression is a myth.  I grew up dirt poor and am now very successful without sending anyone to a prison camp to achieve it.   Good luck with your opression.

Oh yes, that bastion of freedom where the state turns on civilian protesters at the behest of capital - have you ignored the occupy movement?  Then we can go a little further back, institutional racism, slavery, McCarthy witch hunts - oh so free.

Yes, I have ignored their movement.  They're made up mostly of a bunch of kids who want to start at the top rather than work their way up from the bottom like I did.  Your understaning of Econ is limited.  Capital is created by the individual

Well since this comment chain is giving this guy way more popularity than a communist who looks at things only on pen and paper and not in reality deserves, Comrade...if you're right prove it with real statistics and evidence to counter Landmark's.

No they are not, I do not ever see North Korea being a threat to the USA in any way. They are just showboating and showing off, they no better than to attack the USA.

  7. CrescentSkies profile image64

Not for a while, the new leader is young and ignorant and if he keeps threatening war every 2 and a half seconds south korea will put him out of our misery long before he can do anything.

  8. LandmarkWealth profile image66
    LandmarkWealthposted 11 years ago

It is more of a direct threat to South Korea and Japan which are allies of the US.  The only threat to the US is that they potentially dispurse dangerous weapons to terrorists groups which could be smuggled inside the US and used to kill Americans.  As of now they do not have a serious enough capability with intercontinental ballistic missiles.  But who knows what they will have in the future.  The hope of the oppressive regime ending with the death of his father has been dashed.  Looks like he is even worse.  More North Koreans will simply starve.
