Should Kathleen Sebelius Resign For "Gross Incompetence"
Once elected from the same pool of voters, a Kansas Senator is now calling on a former Kansas Governor to resign her presidential cabinet post. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kansas says the first 11 days of enrollment in the new health care exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act have been "disastrous." Roberts statement says the situation shows "gross incompetence." “Today we know, the problems with the exchanges are systematic, profound and indisputable, (and) yet the Secretary won’t shoot straight with the American people. How long do we let this failed exchange continue to operate?"
If this was a private corporation rather than an appointed cabinet post, she would have been fired long ago. Only in government is an employee allowed to mess up something like she has done and keep their job. No private company would tolerate what she has done.
The government should adopt the "two can't rule." That means, if you can't do the job you can't work here.
A senator of a shut-down government is complaining about incompetence? That's ironic. At any rate the system not working shows only one thing: the system isn't working. Things not working does not prove incompetence. Incompetence can only be established by an actual evaluation and analysis.
Roberts doesn't have the tiniest clue what went wrong with the exchange, which means he is operating from a state of complete ignorance. Him being willing to slander someone for incompetence and suggest they should resign says a lot about him and very little about anything else.
That doesn't mean the exchange hasn't been a grand failure, but pointing fingers just for cheap politics isn't becoming of our 'leaders' and accomplishes nothing.
Really? Check back in a month and let us know how it is working - experts say the whole thing could have been done and working for $5 million and 15 good programers (not over $500 million Sebelius spent). The way it was done is a hacker's wet dream.
Right, when the facts refute a liberal like junkseller he has no choice but too attack the messenger. The truth is out now - the whole platform is wrong and the entire thing has to be redone. And shut down? Only 17% of gov't shuts down...big deal.
When a project costing this much money fails, who should be held responsible? Politics aside, this project is a failure and will most likely just end up being more money down the drain.
I'm as irritated as anyone, but neither Roberts, or anyone here, is operating based upon any facts other than something didn't work. I hope someone is held responsible but because they actually were and not just because they're wearing blue.
JS, YOU are just another uninformed voter because the facts are clear and clearly mentioned here - Do you think spending over $500 million on a website that doesn't work is competent when Amazon gets 20 million hits a day. Their site didn't cost βΜε
My guess is she was less than qualified to do this job. She was appointed to this position based solely on politics with little thought on if she could accomplish this monster task. What are her qualifications for this job?
You hit the nail on the head Poolman! The whole administration is unqualified for that matter for the same reason - politics. Interesting though how liberals, when they can't refute the facts disparage the messenger then deny the facts exist.
In my corporate days I saw many unqualified persons appointed to jobs they were not qualified to do. These appointments were mainly due to nepotism and even office love affairs. Same with this, only politics was the qualifier for the job.
Since it is well established that this Obamacare website was in no way worth $500 million + to set up, where did all that money go? There should be an investigation by congress of Sebelius. $100 hammers? gov't now pays millions for one crap website?
You guys may eventually learn to ignore the junk that junk seller tries to pass off as liberal knowledge.
Flycatcher, ignoring arguments is often what people do when they have none of their own. Guess your leadership on such matters is what makes you the Prince.
Frog, ignore? I love him - he so exemplifies everything that is wrong with the half of the electorate that is uniformed and frankly brainwashed to believe this administration's lies. He demonstrates the lack of reasoning endemic among Democrats now.
I wonder if the company who developed this struggling website will pay any penalties. Were they the low bidder or someone's relative? It would be interesting to see copies of the bills they submitted for this work.
Well, that's the thing. People can(and probably should) complain about the way the gov. awards contracts, but a lot of that money did go to private contractors. It seems reasonable that they deserve some (to a lot) of the blame.
The company they hired was obviously not up to the task, and was extremely costly. However in private business, the boss takes the blame if the contractor fails to deliver. It isn't fair, but that is the way it works.
You say "not fair" which I take to mean you acknowledge that they aren't always the one who is truly responsible. Which sucks for them, but of greater concern is that the actual downstream issues that are the real problem might go ignored.
I'm with Tsadjatko, Where did $500 million go? for a failed website? I don't think the senator should be just calling for Sebelius's resignation. They should be calling for an investigation and immediate accounting of all that money - over 5 times the original estimate? Whoa! Remember Solyndra? Seems like $500 million is a number the administration loves to throw down the tubes. I guarantee you this smells, really stinks...follow the money..I'll bet it has been laundered through shell companies. (for JS -not a fact but a real suspicion, or can't we have suspicions anymore?).

Hey, Junkseller, here is what an old Obamazombie. former baracketeer Robert Gibbs said about your precious Sebelius.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvcGSTe3JuM
So I guess Gibbs is responsible for shutting down the government too? Even a partisan like him recognizes the truth when he sees it - you might try doing the same sometime.
You are seriously confused. I have no loyalty or love for Obama, Sebelius, or the Democrats. I simply want things fixed, which means firing whoever was ACTUALLY responsible rather than whoever will satisfy your stupid partisanship.
Yeah right. So why then do you say, "A senator of a shut-down government is complaining about incompetence? That's ironic. Roberts doesn't have the tiniest clue what went wrong ...Him being willing to slander someone" You are the only clueless one.
Yeah right what? There is nothing contradictory with what I said.
It's already been said multiple times - you attack the messenger of the truth (Roberts), deny the facts, blame this on the private sector and you say you are not a fan of Sebelius? when she is the incompetent who is responsible for it all.
The only person seriously confused is JS and that is appallingly apparent. JS you are so in denial nothing you say makes any sense - just like obamacare doesn't make any sense - it doesn't work and neither do you - see your healthcare professional.

This latest 5/4 Supreme Court decision on DACA is inexplicable. John Roberts, as Chief Justice should know better. This is a series of miss steps by John Roberts ever since the decision on the ACA. Why is this happening to our high courts? It was John Roberts who claim there is no politics in the...
