Should the Confederate soldiers that are carved into Stone Mountain in Georgia be sandblasted off?
No. That is a part of our history even if we don't like to admit it. The entire thing has gotten ridiculous and out of hand.
I agree. They are still Americans and the Union became whole again. Confederates' sacrifice for their convictions is still important.
How crazy can people get? Sometimes things now days in this country just go too far. No is my answer.
Even though I think they were fighting for a lost cause, I still mourn my forefathers who gave their lives for the confederacy. It brings tears to my eyes to see the list of their names.
Many of them had little choice, it was expected of them. Wherever their names appear, I do not want to see them erased.
How many died in Vietnam that didn't believe in the war and the cause? If you were not rich what choice did you have? Do or die and they died anyway.
It's been there since 1924. That means for almost 90 years it wasn't an issue. We need to stop this political correctness. Removing the Virginia battle flag from state capitals only led to hundreds of Confederate flag rallies. Foreign companies are selling the stars and bars at record levels. I see them more now than I ever did before. If something like this was done, it would only lead to more Confederate soldiers being carved out in more stone. It would have the exact opposite of the desired effect.
Absolutely not, This is our heritage whether some fools like it or not. To take down all our monuments because of political correctness is so Islamic-thinking. Where did our freedom of expression go? We have to stop this madness, otherwise our country will comprise a base of isolated races and ethnic groups and an uncomplimentary homogeneous face.
No. Everybody should be honored. Just as in the Gettysburg Address Lincoln honored both Confederate and Union soldiers.
I don't see how there would be any point to that. Hiding unpleasant aspects of our history doesn't make racism go away. And Civil War generals don't necessarily equate to racism.
