        Why?

Don't you think people should be proud of themselves and who they are?

Madame X, it is unlike us to have so much in common.  Apparently this Friday the 13th is suiting us well.

          I agree.

I also think this cop being suspended for his own private emails is absurd.  What was his racial track record at work?  That is the only merit this guy should be suspended on.

RK, I've read a lot of your posts over time and I agree with you on quite a bit. We only disagree occasionally and there's nothing wrong with that smile

something is not right here..you are complaining about racism that a man participated in , in the privacy of his own home in an email, but the statement you just made on a public forum is also racism against homosexual and/ or bi-sexuals..that is racism, but done on a public forum.

How can you call a racist disgraceful when you just made a public racial comment yourself.

Now I am 100% heterosexual ( straight..men only ) , but racism is racism, wether it be the color of your skin, your sexual preference, your ability or disability, etc.

my goodness, at least that guy used his private email to be a racist, you used a public forum!

the words your searching for are discrimination, bigotry  or prejudice..racism only refers to matters of race (obviously)and therefore is not relative to any statements or actions about sexual preference or disabilities.

You are also misusing the word "racial" it seems you intended to say "racial discrimination"

Normally, I wouldnt bother with such trivial details but as this is an important topic and we are all writers, a basic understanding of the words you are slinging around would make what you write more effective and I can only imagine how many people could view your butchery of the language in the quoted statement and repeat such usage.

Some topics deserve better attention to detail and overall gravity even in  an insignificant public forum

How did they know he was white?

Who knows, does it really matter.  The man is entitle to have the freedom to his own email, and certainly his own things to like or hate.

I'd like to know what his work track record is?  Was he a danger to men and women of color?  Or does he just feel a common brotherhood with people of his own color?

Sorry, I wasn't being serious it just sounded so stupid I was compelled to say something. You're absolutely right.

But it isnt 'his own email' state, county, fed email must comply to certain rules. even private industry. In LEE COUNTY fLORIDA, an elected official sent a joke to his fellow schoolboard members about female menstration. One person felt it unprofessional to do that on board email and he had to take the heat. The freedom you have at home does not extend to work or school, just thought I'd clear that up for RK WHO KEEP STATING THE MAN CAN..ON HIS OWN EMAIL. It was his opinion but the issue is not the racial aspect, the issue was how he sent it. FOR all we know he might be trooper of the year but since he used PUBLIC TAXPAYER EMAIL thats where he messed up. All gov employees are taught that during orientation..HUBBY WAS, since he worked for the state before me. By the time I STARTED,  EMAIL porn and such had made it such an issue, they had an entire class on work email being for work, and as a taxpayer I dont even think it should be for anything else. i dont pay taxes for  the employees to send jokes around..get the darn work done. and hub your pride at home..pride has nothing wrong with it!

As long as human beings exhibit some form of emotions, things like this will occur. You can make as many rules and create politically correct rules all the same, but that can not destroy how a person thinks or feels.

Racism is a part of life and is an emotion. It does not matter what time we live in either. What matters is how to destroy human emotions.

But to do it, we will become less human. Racism is a part of life and exist with all groups, not just Whites.

I will disagree it is a part of life. Racism isn't an emotion. It's taught to others to be hateful. smile

Why is the discussion about "white pride", if any of you looked into the actual story the email in question was an attack on blacks not a promotion of white pride and it was laced with racist epithets. This is why he was suspended.

  9. profile image0
    B.C. BOUTIQUEposted 14 years ago

Well, if it was not sent at work, it should of been no ones business..if it was then it is a different story.
I am in no way condoning what he did, it is disgraceful, but if done in the privacy of his own home, there is no law against a horrible racially biased email.

again this is another example of "only white people can be racist" i bet if a black trooper had black power emails he wouldnt get suspended

No, this is an example of using work email inappropriately. Anyone would be suspended.

Anyone 'would' not be. Whether they 'should' be is another matter.

Work email belongs to your employer, it is only meant for work related email.

And yet it is not difficult to imagine circumstances where the trooper would not only not be suspended but that would bring cries of 'racism!' against the state police as an organization if they tried to.
