Why is life often compared to a roller coaster?

What makes them alike and/or different? Do you agree with the analogy?

I agree 100%! Highs, lows, twists, turns, upside down, rightside up....life and roller coasters are very similiar....could be why I don't ride roller coasters anymore....life is enough of a ride. Great question!

In a roller coaster there are many twists and turns and ups and downs. Life can be the same at times.

When one rides on a roller-coaster, there are many ups and downs, twists and turns, centrifugal force and gravity sometimes make you feel or think like you are going to fall or be thrown. Life treats you in a similar manner at times.

I think just about any analogy works with life, and roller coasters work since the highs and lows can be quite extreme.

Here 's another - once you are on it - you cannot get off until the ride 's over.

Because people like cliches and lack imagination. Everybody gives the same answer.

"To me it is more or less like a roller coaster ride. You get on with great excitement or maybe apprehension, but you never know how it will turn out. You start rolling and then get thrilled and scared and scream. But then you come back to the point where you started if only slightly more excited. Or embarrassed? Sometimes the best part is that the ride is over. I don’t like all roller coaster rides. I don’t like the majority of them. Why? They are designed for men in the first place. The seat and the harness are meant to secure a man who is taller and broader in his shoulders. Maybe for women that are the same size as men… Ladies and gentlemen, size matters."

I was talking about sex.

"There are other factors (in roller coasters):

1) positive acceleration

2) friction:

a. rolling

b. sliding

c. static

3) motion

4) momentum

5) gravity

6) displacement

7) speed

8) velocity

9) Newton’s 1st Law.

Things are complicated. And it is only physics – an exact science. What if we have to take into account psychology? If we do, we will never see the end of the day. We don’t. Especially if it goes well."

Wouldn't it be nice to come up with an alternative explanation?

Life is not a roller coaster. "It is a slalom from nowhere to nowhere."

The comparison is because life is so unpredictable just like the twists and turns that suddenly come by on a roller coaster ride. Ups in life are normally the good times and downs are the depressing and bad times. My Take!

Roller Coaster. Up and down, slow and fast, excitement and fear, unknown and known, and you are truly relieved when you reach the end. Isn't this life!!!

Just like Feng Shui, it has the ups and downs cycle in every 20 years. So, when we are comparing with roller coaster, it just means our lives are experiencing different points of cycle as one may be up in his career and the next minute, at the bottom.

So, it also implies that life can be unpredictable. So we must treasure each day of our lives with love ones. Make full use of what that it given to us in our lives. Understand that we may suddenly face crisis or even death so we must treasure our surrounding friends and love ones.

Because it costs too much and ultimately there's a lot of waiting around before something fun happens.

Yes Life is a roller coaster. The moment it starts to run up, one could feel the thrill that one could shout out loud, an adrenalin pure. It is compared when one is happy or when one has success in life, at the top of one's carrier, be in love or with a joyfull family there is thrill and excitement.

When the roller coaster goes down...the thrill is slowly calming down. You might think you just made it going to the top. It is like of life's failure, disappointments, loss of a job, loss of love, when sickness comes, one longs to be at the top again.

It is life's happiness and sadness,

Life's success and failure,

Of sickness and good health,

Love and be unlove,

Life and death.

etc.

Life has its fluctations like a rollercoaster. It goes up and down and it is quite a thrill every minute. Furthermore, life is so unpredictable because no matter how you plan, you will never know what circumstance will either deter or disrupt it.
