From a christian perspective what would you do if you found out that a close friend or family member had intentionally caused you harm?

It would depend on the person's motive and level of harm.

"An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth." Especially if it's intentional. But well, oftentimes it's just a misunderstanding, so investigate thoroughly first before carrying out your action.

This actually happened to me recently. In looking back, I realized that these were not the kind of people I would have chosen as personal friends of my own. They were actually old friends of my best friend from years back and a lot had changed in her life since she saw them last. Sometimes old party and drinking buddies from the past should remain where they were. In the past.
