    Does becoming a Christian require a change in your lifestyle?

    Are Christians free to do whatever they want if they have Jesus or is there a style of living that they need to conform to?

    umm...yesh! Lots! You have to strip away all the negativity planted in your mind, become aware of your great qualities, and learn to think differently about yourself and others. Could go on, but I'd be writing all day! lol

    "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

    Becoming a Christian means being "transformed." A Christian life isn't about conforming to rules and regulations, many non-Christians view a Christian lifestyle as restrictive, but being a Christian means that you will actually want to live according to God's will. It is a willing lifestyle change, though not always easy.

    "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" Ephesians 2:8

    And because it's through grace, the gift of God, then it's not a matter of changing lifestyle in order to be saved, but the change will come as a result of accepting God's gift.

    Yes and let us take it to the maximum level which is to know and walk with GOD moment by moment in our life on the earth like I am doing now in my own life and it will come to pass, out of a sincere heart, and it is GOD that will bring it to reality in a person life on the earth before you die and crossover to the other side of death. It is a narrow path to know and walk with GOD moment by moment and you can have this if you pay the cost for this kind of relationship with GOD of which I have done and living this way with GOD in my life on the earth.

    Keith Green put it well;
    "going to church does not make you a christian any more than going to McDonnalds makes you a hamburger".

    If you asked the question, "do you have to change in order to become a christian?", then Keith's statement would apply. No-one can change themselves "into" Christianity. However, repentance, which is the first step in becoming one, does strongly imply an action of change!
    Every one who became a Christian will undoubtedly undergo change. Some more dramatic than others, but will change none-the-less. The Scripture calls it a New Creation. The old man is dead. Putting on the new man. renewing the mind. Changes in values, character, motivation and behaviour are just some areas affected. Cool, huh?

    The Bible says come as you are. If you truly give your life to Christ, you will not stay that way. Jesus caught his fish before he cleaned them. I believe, if you have a relationship with him, pray, and read the word, you will naturally be changed.

    If you truly have become a Christian, the lifestyle changes will begin. Not because you have to but because you will desire to live better. We are to surrender ourselve to God and as you study more in your bible you will see the path that He has laid out for you.
