How can a Christian say he doesn't need to pray? That is a clear statement of unbelief

To declare that you don't need to pray as a Christian is a statement of unbelief. You have denied the instructions Jesus gave to us all. Any man or woman to say they don't need to pray is a carnal babe, they have heard but have not understood.
If you do not pray what can you do for anyone? And what use are you? You are like a cloud, being carried by strong winds and you carry no rain. What use is a cloud that carry's no rain? If anyone tells you that you don't need to pray, You need to ask yourself how did they come to know Christ? Praying is not a superstition. Its the supernatural in power.

Unfortunately, I think there are Christians out there who believe that their God has it all sewn up and they don't need to do anything.  Personally, I would agree with you.  We were give by Christ the Lord's Prayer and told HOW to pray by the Son of God.  That would (and has always) lead me to believe that we must pray.  Of course, later in scripture, Christians are encouraged to pray unceasingly, so we are told to pray always and to never stop.

If a Christian tells you they don't have to pray, don't want to pray, or simply don't pray, I would gather that they either have a very immature relationship with Christ, or no relationship at all.

    Very interesting question.

what i'm confused about is how there is a need to pray when according to believers, their god hears and know everything. is he so anal that he actually needs people to get down and pray to him? kind of creepy to believe something like that.

I see prayers as every thought, word and action.

When Jesus calmed the storm or healed the sick all he had to do was to have the thought that God will and have answered every prayer he ever had in advance. His faith was so great that there was never a question within him that God will fail him. His words will follow and his action of laying his hands over the sick or against the storm is also a form of prayer.

Therefore the best prayer is giving thanks to God without the the need for supplicating, knowing well that our loving God will not fail us. Supplication expresses doubt and the doubt which is thought that become a more powerful prayer than the intended prayer. In this case the original prayer will not be answered. This is why Peter could not walk on the water like Jesus did.

Prayer is the act of wanting to be a part of God's existence. We talk to the ones we love to be a part of their lives. God wants to be a part of our lives. When he created the garden he walked with us daily. He talked with us daily. Prayer is the closest we can come to regaining what we lost there. We can't physically walk with God at this time but we can still talk to Him. People who say they do not need to pray sadden me. Don't they want to talk to the one they believe in and love.
This isn't even getting into the super natural part of prayer. Some people are called to be prayer warriors. And their prayers are answered in amazing ways. That is not my gift. I have a hard time setting aside chunks of time specifically for prayer. Personal weakness. BUT- I talk to God throughout the day despite. I want to know what is going on in my child's life but I want to know from her. Why deny God that? I'm his kid ultimately. God create us to be with HIM, to walk with Him, to talk with HIM- why not do it?
Not praying, I fear distances you from God. It smothers your emotional understanding of God. When I have a difficult time praying and fail for a period of time- I feel it in my faith. It is very lonely for me. And my understanding of my faith twists. Of course this is my personal experience.
    Prayer is communication. So communicate.
