    What is kindness?

Sadly but amazingly I found my favorite answer in a video game but i'm interested what other people define it as.

Kindness is seeing another person through the eyes of their innate beauty and potential, looking to encourage them to fulfill what they were born to be.  It is remembering their "song" and singing it back to them when they forget who they really are.

I would describe it as a combination of gentleness, appreciation, humility, self- and other-worth.  Something like "the wonder of it all", the desire to live and let live, and feeling a part of the interconnectedness of the universe.

I'm sure we all share a similar one, but I'd say that's a matter of opinion, can't really be defined.

For me, kindness is doing things that you do not require any gratitude or appreciation.

It is doing from the heart where rewards are not needed.

Showing kindness to people or animals will give a sort of happiness to the person. It is great to show your kindness to anyone.

Kindness is something that someone does for you without having to ask to have it done! Or can be something someone is doing that is special for somebody else without looking for repayment. That's what I think

Kindness is doing selfless things for other people and not expecting anything in return. I believe everyone has a little kindness in them.

Kindness is a divine quality. it is spontaneous that directly comes from heart. It cannot be imposed on anyone. It blesses both the giver and the receiver. Shakespeare's lines strikes in my mind, while writing these lines- Portia states the quality of mercy to Shylock. . . I agree with her.
It is the only quality that makes man God-like. Without mercy, man is not man.

Kindness is showing others that you care about them. I think kindness is about going out of your way to do something nice for someone...

All very good answers that are true to the heart. One of my favorite definitions though comes from the video game Lost Odyssey where "human kindness is the profound awareness of the frailties of life"...

kindness is having sympathy and empathy at the same time. Being human is what defines kindness.
