   It's another name for "reap what you sow" (Bible-based) or "you made your bed, now lye in it" (traditional saying).  Karma is typically not a term used by Orthodox Christians, but is mostly used by "self-enlightenment" religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, New Age, etc.) describing the cycle of good resulting in good and bad resulting in bad.  If you lie, you will be lied to; if you give, you will be given to, etc.  It's based on the Golden Rule: Do unto others and you would have them do unto you (Bible-based), in my humble opinion :-)

   Karma is for people who can't let the lord get vengeance for you, they hope to see it here on earth for a wrong doing that is done to them. On the other side of that spectrum they feel someone should have something good come along, so they wish that too. Karma is a gutter idea and philosophy.

   The word "karma" is Sanskrit. Its verb root is kri, which means action.  Action creates action (or reaction, if you prefer), so the word "action" implies the law of cause and effect.
   
   The "good" and the "bad" aspects of karma have to do with two things: (1) whether you like the effect or not, and (2) the degree to which an action is harmonious with divine law or not (notice that this is not an all black-or-white situation).
   
   So if you're going to act, act according to divine law and with consideration of what might come your way as a result. If you want to get out of this bind entirely, seek to become enlightened or saved, depending on your spiritual or religious orientation.

   Karma is an ancient teaching of the East. It is a Sanskrit word meaning "action".  Most often it is also used to refer to both action and results.  It is similar to Newton's Third Law- "For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction".

   Karma is a doctrine in New Age, Buddhism and Hinduism, which says that our thoughts, words and actions have consequences for not only those we affect, but also ourselves.
   
   It's a long term doctrine: effects of our actions, thoughts and words can come to fruit in this lifetime, but also in the next - so karma is intimately related to reincarnation.
