What does it matter if you die at 20 or 100 if your consciousness is extinquished at death?
Before death, the time of death matters for some because of the hope for life after death. They may feel the need for much time to prepare for death and get the important things done before it happens. Others are afraid of death and want long life to shun it as long as possible. Some want long life because they feel that it is all that they will ever have. And, as you have indicated, it does not matter to some if they die at 20 or 100. Reasons may vary.
After death not anything matters while the conscious is extinguished. Of course, beliefs differ.
Age is just a number, and the soul lives forever. The soul is within us, while in human form. Death happens, it is a part of life. Being a professional psychic for over 40 years, I understand life after death. I seen it, for too many have come to visited me, as well as my own near death experience. I have counsel way to many people who have loss a love one. Suicide is never an answer, so that is when age would factor in.
Death is just taking off the old coat, our bodies, and living in a lighter body. Many people fear it, but I believe that is tied in with many religious beliefs. The age doesn't matter, and some of us are only here for a very short time.
It may not, in the overall scheme of things, matter to the one who dies--but it matters to those left behind. Having 100 years with a loved one sure beats only 20 years.

what about to you. does it matter to you if you die at 20 or 100 if your consciousness ceases when you die?
It would matter to me. If I knew my consciousness would cease I would want all the time on this earth I could get with my family.
It matters when you are alive. Happiness, joy, satisfaction, relief, pleasure, entertainment, etc. You talk as if you are already dead.
If your consciousness is dead then it doesn't matter at all to the one who died. It does matter however very much to those left behind. They are left with all the milestones that their loved one has missed.
One need to understand what death is...
Death is the absence of the consciousness of Life, this is why it is described as weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Death work unto the purposes of Life..
So it is good therefore that a man die, for in his death he gains an understanding of it,in that flee from death that he die no more.
If a man was to apply himself unto Life while he is alive, he would gain the understanding that he never to die, and also discovers another purpose to death, that he would die willingly fully confident that death cannot keep him.
Excellent analysis, Kess! I was clinically dead and came back; you have captivated it well. All of my fears are gone; be not afraid!
So Kess does it matter to you if you die at 20 or 100 if your consciousness ceases when you die?
I thought you would have noticed the irrelevancy of the answer to that particular question....

I've read about many different theories about death and what happens. It is the main question that is in the back of everyone's mind. It's very difficult to picture it or to question the point of existence. The fact that we are here is a miracle in itself, who says that some sort of afterlife isn't...

Are you worried about what happens after you die?I have two fears for when I die: I'll basically cease to exist, have no consciousness, etc. Or, that there is an afterlife and I'll learn the meaning of life, which could be devastating if I handled life wrong!

Does the size of the stone on the ring really matter? We live in a world where materialism reigns supreme and where social status is measured by looks and material gain, so when choosing an engagement ring in our material world, does the size of the stone matter?
