Elegance is the essence of elan. Elegance is appreciating the finer things of life such as ballet and eating in fine restaurants. Elegance is class-being a refined gentleman and lady at all times.
Elegant people are not loud and crass. Elegant people know how to keep their composure on at all times and seldom get angry. Elegance is being understated and not broadcasting your affluence. Elegance is appreciating the finest things that life has to offer.
Of course, having lots of money does contribute to elegant living. Money affords one a myriad of choices and the better things of life because one can afford it. Examples of elegance are the late Grace Kelly, Charlize Theron, Denzel Washington, and Vanessa L. Williams. Ms. Williams always epitomizes elegance wherever she goes.
I also believe that socioeconomic income has a lot to do with elegance. Children born in affluent circumstances grow up to be more elegant than children coming from lower socioeconomic circumstances. Even though poor children can become rich(it is seldom), their former socioeconomic background gradually reveals itself, look at Madonna and Mark Wahlbeg. These celebrities came from poor, hardscrabble beginnings and it shows.
Elegance is luxurious not outrageous, it is graceful, with quality. Simple and elegant.
I totally agree with your eloquent statement. Elegance is understated classiness. Elegance is also refinement and composure. Those who have elegance have this understatement and refinement about them. They are consummate ladies and gentlemen.
Elegance is indescribable, it is just that 'something', some people and things have, its a combination of beauty, imagination, its all encompassing.

I think it is due to the erosion of families. Mothers no longer stay home with their young children, and fathers are no where to be seen in a large percentage of families. The kids don't have a father figure, and I think this leads to joining gangs, dropping out of school, and criminal behavior. Am...
