Would you let your child get a tattoo or piercing?

What is the minimum appropriate age for tattoos and piercings?

Tattoos, 18 piercings however vary for an appropriate age. It really depends on what kind of parent someone is. Ears will be allowed when they ask. No matter the age for my girl and after 13 for my boys. Outside of that it will depend on the maturity of my children.

No.  When they are adults they can make those decisions, but as children, their tastes change, their desires, hopes for the future change in the blink of an eye - not the time to be doing something permanent they may later regret.

Not a chance...there are number of alternative ways to alter the way you look without piercing yourselves with needles...

Nearly every state in the US has now made it illegal for any minor (anyone under 18) to get a body piercing or tattoo other than basic ear piercings, even if a parent or legal guardian consents.  So by the time your child can legally get a body modification, they are no longer considered a child and thus it is not up to the parent to decide.

The legal age, I believe, is 18 for tattoos. So if they want to try they can. Just try to make it easy to hide in case they want to have a good job in life and regret it later. I'm fine with piercings.

In Canada you have to be 16 with parental permission to get a tattoo but I would say 18 is the appropriate age or if its something that actually means something and is easily coverable. For most piercings you can be 16 with photo id and get a piercing without parental permission. In my opinion most piercings are not a big deal especially if your over the age of 16 because you can take them out and at 16 its pretty common for teens to want to get piercings that will help them feel like they have their own identity and I believe the should be allowed to experiment with that as long as the piercings are done professionally and safely. More intimate piercings you need to be 18 and for good reason.  And if you unsure about the where, the how, and weather you will regret it or not in the future you should wait and think about it more until you are sure if you want the piercing or tattoo. If a teen wants a piercing making them save and pay is a good way to make sure they are sure about it and dedicated enough to pay for it and care for it. It will help them grow up and learn to make their own decissions and teach them about money.

Getting a tattoo is not a crime, I  have to remind some people.  Tattoos are not for life anymore. True there is a monetary cost to remove one. but there are options. Minos shouldn't get tattoos anyone. Kids nowadays are too immature for their ages.
