How come cell phone carriers are charging more for data plans?
In a world of streaming online movies, downloading music. It seems like stealing when they give us a limit on how much data we can transfer. Then you get your first SHOCKING cell phone bill.
They are charging more for data for the exact reason that we are using more data -- supply and demand.
That is why whenever you can sign up with an "unlimited data" plan with no quota. Find them quick, because they are disappearing rapidly.
For example, Verizon had a "unlimited data plan" last month. But now they do not. I think T-Mobile still has an "unlimited data plan".
(written as of July 13, 2011).
I have had Sprint for a few years now and they recently decided to charge new customers another $10 for the data plans. This was to keep their service up to date and competitive according to the website. Well I switched plans and got hit with the fee, so switched back to a basic plan. I'm sorry, but paying $80 a month just for cell service is too much. I can check my email on my computer.
