   Laptops: What is the best brand?
   
   looking to get a new laptop in the future, in your experience, what are the brands that offer durability and best value?  Are there any brands to steer clear of?

   Apple Mac only the best one if you look performance and look wise. Only problem is the high price.

   My first instinct was to tell you not to buy a Dell, but as many times as I dropped mine, got crumbs in it or spilled stuff on and in it, I am amazed that mine actually lasted as long as it did. I had it just over two years before it gave up the ghost.

   I am using an Acer, which was purchased a few years ago, it is the first 16:9 laptop at that time.
   I think Samsung works better in screen so you may take it into consideration. What's more, one of my friend use Fujitsu and it looks elegant, the color and resolution is not as good as that of Samsung.
   
   As i know, Lenovo is another brand works pretty well in screen color, but i am not sure if it uses Samsung screen directly or not, I did not dig it deep.
   In short, I thing Samsung is a brand that you can think about if you focus on great screen of a laptop.

   Many people will probably disagree with me here, but I won't hesitate to recommend Dell. I'm finishing up my second year of college now, and I believe I got my laptop when I was a junior in high school. Its still decently fast and it has had no problems running any of the new video editing software I recently threw at it. And as you may now, video editing software, especially in HD, is quite the heavy task. All in all it is still running strong after almost four years, and the only physical maintenance I've done to it was replace my battery once. And, before you freak out about having to buy a 100+ dollar battery after the first 2 years or so, I'd also like to mention that you can get great generic brand batteries with a quick search on amazon. Cost me less than 20 bucks! Good luck with whatever you may choose. :]

      I think Dell makes excellent machines. My wife is using a Dell Laptop that is now five years old. I have a Dell and never had problems with it and if you but the extra service contract for support and warranty, you should be good to go.

   Toshiba for me is the best. Lowest fail rate after 3 years compared to all the brands but it's bulky. It has a fairly reasonable price too.
   Asus is the 2nd best.
   
   but if you've got money. I'd suggest Alien Ware.

   I love macbook air. Love portability. Definitely love the intuitiveness of OSX. Not difficult to get the software for OSX and they are reasonably priced too.

    Sometimes its not about the brand if you are asking for durability. That was on the owner's case, how they handle their laptop with so much care. On the other side, if you are asking for performance, Apple Mac is my recommendation, outside of that, probably Acer or Dell.

    I have worked on the following laptops: Dell, HP, ASUS, Toshiba...and I have to say-I am most happy with my Alienware (which is now manufactured by Dell.)  I bought the Alienware (though very pricey,) at the end of my rope when my ASUS took a crap on me during a deployment.
    
    I now use the Alienware for gaming, video production as well as photography, so I am going to go ahead and say it: It depends on what you plan on using your new laptop for.

    Apple MacBook and laptops are very good. I also suggest you that HP laptops are also very good to work on. It totally depends on your choice of look. Do compare with other one and get a good piece for yourself.
