I wonder why these animals are good luck symbols?
In India they say the Elephant is a good luck symbol.
In Hawaii they say the turtle is a good luck symbol.
others have said bunnies or rabbits foot are good luck.
others say if a bird poops on your car that that is good luck?
Just curious if there is any reasoning for these animal symbols?
May the Great Bird of the Galaxy Rest Upon Your Planet.
I don't know about the Western and Hawaiian legends, but I do know that all twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac are considered auspicious for a reason. It is said that the Buddha wanted to create a calendar and asked for help, and only these twelve animals stepped forward (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig). Because they offered to help Buddha, they each came to represent a year in the 12-year cycle of the calendar and are considered auspicious.
(My opening line is a joke from fans of the original Star Trek, the future version of "May the Bluebird of Happiness sit upon your shoulder.")
Thank you Sid for your interesting answer and comical Star trek quote LOL. I didn't know that about Buddah and the 12 yr. cycle, thanks for sharing that info.
It is also possible that the elephant in India is a good luck symbol because it is associated with Ganesha, the elephant-headed god who is beneficent in many ways and is associated with a goddess, Lakshmi, who brings luck.
Thanks Sid!!! You are a mine of information!!! Thanks!!!
Cow - Animal sacred in India
Because there they believe in reincarnation, not only from human to human, but also from animals to humans.
As there is a loving relationship with these animals, because the supply of milk and butter (ghee), besides dolicilidade cows, they amounted to a status humanized, and believe in your next incarnation Cow born as a human being.
A black cat crossing your path is supposed to be good luck here in England. I feel quite blessed as I have two black cats living with me, and they are always walking in front of me! It might have something to do with old superstition and witches having black cats, but I'm not really sure.
I thought in Ireland they said if a black cat crossed your path it was bad luck? But I'm glad your version means good luck ,seeing as you have two of them. Have you tried playing your local lotto maybe you'll be lucky Thank you for sharing!

I have a very bad luck in my life.... I do believe in the existence of luck but not in my life ....Unfortunately, I hope I'm the only one because I don't want others to experience the same things that I have been/am experiencing.
