My Dog is changing color. Why?
My spoodle is 7 years old and a mid to light golden color. Recently she had some lumps removed. Some brown fur came up where she had had the largest cut. Now she also has a weird looking brown patch on her back. Can anyone tell me how and/or why it happens?
My cat used to be fully white but skinny and full of fleas when i found him, after feeding him, his color changed to patches of brown too, maybe the wound cover up the fur
Sometimes with different types of lumps and, don't freak out, cancers, it brings along changes in fur colors, eye colors, and behaviors. I once worked with a dog that had pancreatitis, and she went from the normal rotty black/brown/tan to having large patches of an almost golden color, really soft fur, especially on her back. The rest of her black fur turned chocolate brown as well. Eventually she passed, and the owner asked for a necropsy to make sure that there was nothing else he could have done. Come to find out, she had a tumor on her liver the size of a bowling ball, and it had ruptured causing her sudden and unexpected death. That doesn't mean that there's anything like that going on with your pup, so like I first said, don't freak out. I just wanted to show you that it does happen with different issues.
Hello MarieLB,
I am not a vet nor a groomer, but can try to make a few guesses. Color change is often due to licking, but since it's the back top area that looks quite hard to reach, I would exclude this possibility. When I worked for the vet, I remember some dogs would get a color change a while after surgical procedures. The vets back then explained that it was due to damage to the hair follicles caused by a scar, injury, inflammation or scab. I remember this well because I used to get those phone calls and had to report back to the owners as they often were quite upset! Of course, it can be other things as well, so your best bet is to see the vet to make sure there's nothing else going on there. Your vet can always take a few hair samples and look them under a microscope for abnormalities.

I always wondered why those little words effected people so much, so i ask my fellow hubbers out there to tell me and try to answer the question, "why is saying i love you so hard?"
