Bombays have always been my favorite because of their great personality and that they look like a small black panther. My cat Sam was a Bombay and weighed 25 lbs. He was a big baby and had the most pitiful howl when he was upset. My other favorites are Russian Blues and Maine Coons. The Russian Blue for its luxurious coat and the Maine Coons for their look and size.
My Egyptian Mau has been my favorite breed I've ever had the pleasure to have in my home. Odion is always in a sweet mood and loves to carry on a conversation in his "mau-ese" kitty language. He is the silver with dark spots and has turned out to be a quite an amazing friend.
I love the Persian breed. I've had two purebreds and they are wonderful. They are quiet and have more dog-like characteristics. Both would meet me at the door when I'd come home. One of them I'd put on a leash and take for walks in the neighborhood and people thought he was a dog by the way he behaved. While they take a bit more work to groom, they are very affectionate and worth the effort!
I now have a Burman/Japanese Bobtail and I don't think I'd get one again. They are very difficult to train and when you say no they do the exact opposite (always!) While we love our cat, we do get annoyed by her constant meowing which sounds like a whine. Live and learn
