not anymore.  We had some- but they were free range and roosted in the trees by the barn.  We had them for years and then one day they were all gone.  We aren't sure if it was a dog or what.

I have a friend that has 8 chickens and 1 rooster.  It's her daughter's "business"  she collects the eggs every morning and had to date and package them in egg cartons, they sell them, she has regular customers and she tells everyone her mom works with about it.  She gets to keep the profit after the cost of care and feed are deducted.  They make her keep records of the expenses and profit and do books like a real business would.  In fairness to the daughter, the household has to BUY eggs from her as well.  It's a great idea- if you have the energy.

we have three... I felt it was a good thing for my kids, it had less of an impact on our environment, plus we get free eggs and a fertile yard, cha-ching
