Sweet kitten became aggressive with no reason. Why?

We abopted a kitten from a shelter and he was very sweet and loving and almost always purred and slept in my bed or one of my family members bed. Then after a month he started to be very nervous and scared of loud noises and got aggressive and started to bite and scratch when you pick him up or out of nowhere. We are worried he might have rabies. What can we do?

Try taking him to the vet. I've seen animals that will be sweet and suddenly turn because of some kind of infection.

    Cats are wild animals.

Is the cat neutered yet?  We had a black kitten that did this.  Soon as he was old enough to be neutered the aggressiveness stopped.  He wouldn't have rabies having come from a shelter they would've quarantined him for that and given him shots before adopting him out.
