Do chickens ever play?
Unlike dogs and cats and other animals I have owned, I noticed my chickens never played or engaged in something looking as play since they were chicks. Do chickens ever play? I always wondered about that.
I think they do play, but perhaps what we think of as "play" is too human to encompass what chickens might find play. Exploring, running around, ... all these things might be play for them. Basically play is whatever arouses pleasure.

I think chickens do play. I just don't know how they do it.

We all know animals can be trained and learn commands. But how do they think? Do they think at all? Can they think ahead? Contemplate? And in what language?

Do you think animals should be trained for our entertainment?I'm not thinking of teaching Fido to roll over, I'm thinking more of travelling circuses, chimps tea parties, animals in the movies. Given the state of nature today, shouldn't we maybe show a bit more respect? Or is it sometimes okay - or...
