All things God created and I have seen where people have some unique animals has Pets.  So, why not if you can Pet it then get it.

    Well, that is my opinion.

You could, but would you really want to? To have one as a "pet" requires great personal sacrifices in time, money, and living space. My friend has a Great Horned Owl that he keeps in a spare bedroom and even this isn't enough space for the creature.  Owls are large, predatory animals with very bad tempers and large appetites which makes them expensive to keep and even dangerous to handle. I would admonish anyone considering keeping such a creature to think twice, and then think again.  Owls belong in the wild where they can fly free, don't try and cage one for your personal entertainment-you will most likely regret doing so.

Superstition is one thing, but why would anyone want to keep such a magnificent bird locked up? Dogs and cats are pets, only because they are domesticated and bred as pets. Owls are wild and should be allowed their freedom.

As to the actual question, yes if local laws allow it.

Yes, and I would love to have one one day. I would never want anything larger than a barn owl. My ideal choice would be a saw whet owl. Compared to other birds, owls are a lot cleaner, quieter, and do not require the extensive enrichment efforts that parrots, corvids, and other birds might. Simple diet, too. The same as my snakes!

It is a beautiful animal that should not ever be forced to be locked up. It needs to be flying freely, spreading it's wings and choose where it wants to build its' nest. They are born predators that need to hunt - how can they do that in a cage?
