    What could be wrong with my 2- 1/2 year old cat if she doesn't have an ear infection?

    My tabby has had 3 ear infections within a 2- 1/2 period. She's been scratching and shaking her head again.  I clean her ears weekly.  She's on a special diet.  Took her to vet today and he said her ears had no infection.  I was stunned.  Then he saw her scratch her ear and shake her head.  He was surprised.  He gave me Tresaderm to use for 10 days.  Is this wise if texts said there was no bacteria or more or yeast?  What else could it be?  She clearly is in some discomfort.
