I saw an article for making necklaces from bottle tops. You punched a hole in it and added a chain.

The article was on art and craft pages

I'm not sure I've ever seen that but I have made necklaces from bread tabs ( you know those little plastic tabs that hold bread bags closed). Here's the instructions:

    Materials:

        Glue
         White paper scrap
23 plastic tabs from bread bags in assorted sizes
         Acrylic Paint -- black
Dimensional paint -- silver, bronze and gold
         Paintbrush
          Needle nose pliers
         23 gold finish jump rings

    Instructions:

Cut 2 tiny strips of paper for each of 23 plastic tabs. Glue 1 strip to each side of 1 tab to cover slit. Let dry.  (This step will help to keep the jump rings from pulling through the slit in the tabs.)

Paint both sides of each tab and paper strip black. Let dry. Glue 3 tabs together ( at different angles for the main charm). Let dry. Paint with dimensional paint in any design you like. Let dry.
Using needle nose pliers, attach 1 jump ring to each of the single tabs. Attach 1 jump ring to necklace charm. Attach jump rings to necklace.
