Can I remove/reduce a smudge on a photo?
I have a really great picture of my daughter and her grandpa I took this weekend, but I didn't realize there was a smudge on the lens, so there's a smudge on the picture. It's just over grass, but isn't in a place I can really crop. Is there any way I might be able to eliminate or reduce the smudge with photo editing software? Thanks!!
Use the clone tool. It will revert the unwanted areas to the nearby colors. In other words it will replace unwanted pixels with pixels found nearby
If you have photoshop, you can also use the patch tool. Just select an area of the picture that doesn't have the smudge and drag it over top of it. It will automatically blend the edges to look natural.
If you don't have Photoshop Picasa is free and there is a retouch filter that does the same thing as cloning in photoshop.
