what will be the best pattern for a warm but quick scarf. I plan to crochet it for my husband who is more keen for comfort and less of design. Is black and orange a good combination for scarf?
Here are two free patterns which might suffice

or you could try finding a pattern using a large hook and perhaps two strands of yarn. This would make a light but warm scarf.
I like Mercia's answer and information. About the colors - my husband's a hunter, so I use camo colors like dark greens, black, and creams for him that he can wear in the woods. If your man's a sports guy, you could use his favorite team's colors. Could also use the colors from whatever he associates with (like from his work logo, etc.) Good luck and have fun!
