Can you paint with acrylics on top of varnished paintings?
I have some older acrylic paintings that I had varnished and framed, and now I look at them and see many things that I would like to change. Can I paint with acrylics on top of acrylic varnish?
You should wipe the surface down with a damp cloth, to remove any dirt, and then add an isolation coat of matte medium, so the new layers of acrylic will have something to grab onto.
