What are the best methods to buff/polish scuffs (NOT scratches, just scuffs) from a car exterior?
Car polish will do the job. Bit of 'elbow grease' (effort) is needed, but it will take off most of the scuff, maybe all of it, so long as it's not so deep that it goes right through the paint layers.
Look into using a clay bar. The have very fine abrasive properties and will buff out lights scuffs. It is actually a good idea to clay the car periodically because they are great at removing stubborn dirt.
I used to use a paste rubbing compound w/ a soft cloth to remove surface scratches and scuffs. I think it was Turtle Wax. Then I found Meguiars Ultimate Compound which works in one step w/o the need to treat with a cleaning polish too. They both work best if your car is waxed after use. Great for ground in dirt and oxidation too!
