It doesn't have to.
I love my job. I happen to work for myself, but people with regular jobs can love what they do.
If you hate your job, you need to be doing something else. It makes no sense to spend a third of your life or more doing something you hate.
It doesn't have to suck. If you can get more from it, then go for it. Before you leave, explore different aspects of it to see if you can be noticed in a different light. If it's really wearing you down, then it's time to look for another job or some extracirricular activity to do with your time. I'm really trying to focus on my writing now that I left behind my job of two years.

Because we all want to be lazy bums and still get paid. Plus, most jobs are boring, and the people you work with hate the job too, so there is all this negative energy around. Ugh.
