a potential future employer when checking references and verifying employment ?
I believe it matters which state or country you live in and the laws that apply. However, from what I understand about HIPPA and privacy is that your former emplyee cannot state as to why-medically you took the FMLA.
But when inquiring about attendance, ect. They can tell thim you had time off for FMLA. FMLA just stands for a leave of absence, not something you did wrong or against the company.
I don't know why it would hurt you though...
No, they can not. To do so would be in direct violation of the HIPAA privacy act of 1996.
