Blue collar jobs offer a better sense of daily accomplishment. The down side is they usually pay less, have less job security, and the work is usually physically tiresome.
White collar jobs pay better, are protected better, give you some work autonomy, and allow you to think and offer ideas. The downside is they destroy the soul as one is forced to spend 90% of their time forcing themselves to be busy with something--anything in order to prove to the world that their position is relevant and necessary.
