I had to Google "futile" ha ha but I think that maybe you are working toward something that doesn't mean anything to you. I can be hardworking all day long and when someone comes over and sees my house a mess will go "damn your a lazy slob". What I mean by this is your hard work may not have anything to do with what everyone else sees but to you it could be amazing accomplishment. Visa versa is also true you may work hard and feel as if you got nowhere and then someone stops over and says "wow your house looks gorgeous" while your thinking "your just saying that". It is also possible your working toward the wrong goals. ones that will get you nowhere and never improve you.
