Have you ever worked with a government agency? What did you think of it?

Some people hate working with government agencies, some like it. I have a lot of contacts, but am not sure whether to really go for it or not.

I worked for an organization that did grant work as subcontractors of the Social Security Administration. The upside is that you know the employer is never necessarily going to go out of business. The downside is that there is a great deal of paperwork and duplication of this type of work.

Security is what I've heard most often touted as a benefit to working for a government agency. Especially if you're a contractor, I can see that benefit. Are there others?

Government pensions. If in the US, many depend on Social Security. Well that system if not fixed will die. Government pensions, especially federal will never be allowed to die. Mainly because decision makers draw them too.
