Do you work on the weekends?
Just curious how many people have a job on Saturday or Sunday.
Technically no. I am fortunately to have a Monday - Friday position, but my workplace is 24/7. So I do receive calls on the weekend, and when there are no staff available, sometimes I go in and work.
I'm trying to find a job that is just Monday - Friday on a permanent basis though.
Good luck with finding a permanent Mon-Fri job. It seems like they are getting more & more difficult to find. Let's hope you get this weekend free and clear. Aloha, Stephanie
Almost invariably, although strictly speaking it depends what you mean by work. I am self-employed and therefor it's very difficult to get away from my job! At the moment my work involves social networks and interacting with people to make connections, so although technically it's work, it's also very enjoyable.
I, too, am self-employed and I find myself working more hours than I did before. Social networks can keep me on the computer 24/7 if I let them, although I do enjoy connecting with others. Hope you get a free weekend. Aloha, Stephanie
I have worked weekends all my working life until recently. I now have the opportunity to cut back on weekend work.....which I am doing....and take weekends off fairly regularly. I still go into the office on Saturdays and Sundays but only briefly and usually on my way to the "activity" of the day. It's hard to break old habits but getting use to being off on weekends is beginning to grow on me.
I agree that it is hard to break old habits. I used to work every Sunday and it felt weird for a while when my shift changed. But being free on weekends is a joy! Hope you have a happy one. Aloha, Stephanie
I do work weekends because I am a freelance writer. Oddly enough I have no desire to write during the week but come weekend and I know I better get some things done. And I do.
I'm a freelance writer too and I find myself more creative on weekends when everyone else is out & about. I figure it's got to be all in my mind, so in 2013 I'm vowing to stick to a writing schedule that lets me have a life. Aloha, Stephanie
As a newspaper reporter, I had weekend duty at least once a month or more often depending on the scheduled events and the unplanned events.
In my Public Relations career I worked at home on weekends to have a head start on the week.
I now work for a department store and my schedule changes each week and I usually end up working at least one day each weekend, sometimes both. We never get two consecutive days off--part time workers do not get the best schedules.
Voted up, best answer. Sounds like you've had a long professional life. I agree that part-timers don't always get the best hours. But I've found that having time off during the "week" is pretty nice too. Have a great weekend. Aloha, Stephanie
Yes indeed; that is, I work at what I love to do. That would be playing ice hockey and spend time with my family. That is; if you define work as an activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result...
Good answer! The most creative one today! Aloha, Stephanie

What is a weekend?I'm curious about this two days off I hear some people have. It's a mystery to me since I work seven days a week between my writing, editing, keeping my house, kids, pets and my rentals. Just wondering if any of you actually have days that you don't do anything.

Do you take the weekend off from writing?Perhaps not all together - when inspiration strikes it strikes, after all. But do you take the weekend off from hubbing, blogging, general online writing, rather. Do you feel it effects your readers?
