Does working 2 full time jobs, increase the amount paid in taxes per check?
I am saving for a house, and just got a second job. I am curious about taxes as I have heard conflicting things from friends and family. I understand that two jobs is more money, which means more paid in taxes when it comes to the percentages of over all income, and I will be placed in a higher tax bracket. HOWEVER, I have heard that there is an extra "Tax" increase simply because I have the second job.
I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Nevada has no state tax, only federal.
So my question is, ontop of moving into the next tax bracket, is there an extra "fee" or "tax" due to job #2?
I have never heard of this "Second job tax." I will say however you have to be careful, to make sure you don't owe extra at tax time. As you already alluded the two jobs can put you into a higher tax bracket. The issue is that each job will be taking taxes out based on the bracket which they consider you to be in, so your deductions may take place at a lower rate, leading to extra taxes owed at tax time. Not sure if I explained that well?
