What is the best place to post a review of a local business?

I've looked at Yelp (Yuck), Google+ and Foursquare.  I want to write a full review, not just a testimonial.  It seems to me that if the SEO details are good enough I should be able to post a review of a local business right here on HubPages and pull in local traffic.  It is part of a chain, but I don't want to review the whole chain.

Hub Pages is good but only a start. I understand that Facebook is quite powerful! I get e-mails from people who would show you how, but they charge. Everything is costly these days. You can also use video but you need someone who knows what they are doing.

Seriously Cam, I will go into the writing business sooner or later, and I will pay the Pros. They will charge you from 1000 to 1, 500 dollars but will take your work around the world and in all local and international major outlets.

Amazon will allow reviews for stuff they sell, and there are people here who will give you a free slot on their own sites if you ask. At least you have put the question out. LinkedIn is a network for Professionals and you can also do it free there. Much Love.

Good information, manatita.  I'll begin with HP.  I believe I can use SEO to get to my target audience.  Key words, sub titles, synopsis should get me there, at least for now.

This is a pretty high ranking website in Google search. If you build an attractive and reader friendly, in depth article about a business here, it should serve the purpose better here than somewhere else.

My review will be applicable to one business in one city. So from HP, if written correctly, people searching for information about that one place of business should be able to find my review even if it is not posted someplace closer to that business?

Hi Chris, I've pondered this too about a business in the county in which I live now. Actually, I think HP is a good place to do such being I've seen excellent reviews of restaurants done before on here to include their own personal photos, etc.  Having said that, however, you'd have to be mindful to not be too spammy, obviously.

I would love to read your review, especially if you're still living in my home town.

Faith, I'll be writing the review about the Max Fitness center on Tower Rd off Veterans.  They transformed me and asked if I'd write a review.  I told them yes, but it would be an objective review.   A review is no good if it is biased.

I think that is great and would be an interesting read for sure, especially along the lines of healthy living and personal development. Maybe someone from the HP Team will come on here and provide some feedback.

I would certainly welcome that input.

If they have a Yelp listing, I'd post it there. You should also be able to post a review in your city's business directory. If they're the kind of business that would be found in Angie's List, you could try that as well.

I wrote a review of a local branch of The Cheesecake Factory on HP. I don't know if it helped their business or not, but I felt compelled to do so. I also shared my article on my FB page, which all of my local "friends" had access to.
