   Do you think that 'getting friends and followers' on HubPages is a sign of fraud?
   
   I know this is a silly question but someone just told me this on one of my hubs. Nonsense, am I right? How it making friends and getting followers fraud? This person claims that you got to cheat the keyword system to get anywhere on here and not make friends!

   I answer that with BS I think that's nonsense.  I have met many talented and wonderful writers and people here on HubPages.

   I'm going to have to agree with ChristinS on this one, after all how can it be your fault if your charming personality and winning attitude garners the admiration of the teeming masses and mindless sheep.

   I've been on this site for just over six years and about five years back the follower feature got invented.  I have racked up just over 3700 followers since then.  I don't spend time being social here and do try and focus my time on creating the strongest content possible.
   
   What I don't understand is how that person who left you a comment equates some form of fraud with all those people deciding on their own to read my Hubs and follow me.

      Well he doesn't have too many hubs if you really wanted to find exactly what was said it wouldn't be that difficult. He may have stretched the intent just slightly.

      Yes, somethgblue is right, its not hard to find where this person said that. They quickly changed what they said though and said they meant irl friends.... for some reason.

      And I said "Fraudulent Clicks" due to "Friends" trying to help by clicking adverts. Friends and followers do not make you money.

   Maybe you should not take my answer out of context.
   
   I said that "Spamming your friends with your hubs is more likely to get you banned by Adsense if they click adverts, than make you money."
   
   And "Followers don't make you money, most of them won't even read your content, but follow you for their own selfish ends."
   
   You obviously know nothing about keywords if you think you need to "cheat" with them.
   
   Keywords are any words that are typed into Google to find YOUR content. You have to think about them in your titles and subtitles.
   
   A story about your self called "My Memoir" is unlikely to pull views from Google. Using something that matches what people are Googling like "My Story of Growing Up With Drugs/Bipolar/A Sick Mother" is more likely to match what people are Googling and therefore bring you more views.
   
   And please, when you have been here two years and have over a million views, feel free to correct me based on your experience.

      I've never had a Lilt is it any good? A Brit with a dry sense of humor but  with a smile to the words, hmmm! Do you have 2 mil page views, please tell me how without actually becoming a good writer . . . (me not you of course)

      @Somethgblue:  Getting lots of page views and making loads of money online, has nothing to do with being a good writer; duh!    Just learn the robotic jargon and mechanical SEO that is required, and you'll have a better chance.  I'll pass; thanks...

   Maybe the person you are referring to doesn't know what 'fraud' is or maybe they are confusing the community aspects of this website with SEO tactics? Maybe that particular individual means that the person is a fake and just wants to look like he/she is popular on here, but other than that, unless click fraud is involved, I see the entire notion as asinine...
