I just started writing here a couple of days ago and I really like it so far but I wanna network and connect with more people. How do some people have over 1000 followers, is it because they have been here for awhile or do they just write awesome articles? Also if you could drop any hints on how to do well here and/or check out my hubs that would greatly appreciated!
Hi Evan! Welcome to the hubpages! Your Hubs look great and they are engaging as well. I started writing last year, however I signed up with the hubpages 3 years ago. I came across this link on how to build your brand online which should attract followers. I've noticed that some people have been here less than me and they have a huge following. I guess networking is the key! Hopefully this link will be of help! Keep up the great work!

Thank you Emunah! I've always been fascinated by the Okinawan people and I found your article on there interesting. I will definitely check out the link you provided.
I keep hearing great things about the movie Kingdom Come! I voted your article up! If you want you can add a comment box after your Hubs readers can leave you a response, it's up to you if you want to approve the response or not. I like that the Hubpages gives the writer the authority to approve or disapprove a response.
Welcome Evan! I've been here 3 years. One can get followers for all the reasons you mentioned. Something else that some people don't realize here is that a person need not be a member of HP in order to be an author's follower. If one becomes a follower it is assumed it is because they like to read at least some of the hubs that author produces, but there may be other reasons.
The way you make money here is primarily from people who find your articles through Google or other search engines. You are paid for pageviews.
While it is wonderful to have followers, keep in mind that many if not most of us are here to make money. You shouldn't expect that all your HP followers are going to keep reading your articles with no reciprocation. Most of us are not here to sit reading other people's work all day. That doesn't pay off. We don't get our household chores done and we don't make any money or get any new articles written by doing that. So realize that you will need to do as Dr. Mark suggests and read other people's articles and comment on them, especially those people who take some of their precious time to do that for you.
Take part in the question and answer section, read and comment on articles, help solve problems people pose in the Q&A as well as the forums when you can, and write an article a week if you can because HP will like that if you do.
You will have to promote your own articles and there are a variety of venues where you can do that, among them Facebook, Pinterest, etc. Drawing readers from outside of HP will bring you more money than those from within. I don't understand why that is, but it is. Just the same, there are a lot of great people and very good writers here on HP and it's worth getting to know them.
Everyone here was helpful to me when I first started and was trying to learn my way around, and they still are when I run into something that isn't answered in the Learning Center, or elsewhere on this site. There is a great bunch of people/writers here. Just participate as much as you can in what's going on and the rest will follow.
The usual method for people to interact here at HP is through the comment pages. If you write a good hub, they leave a comment. If you wish, you can take the time to comment on one of their hubs.
I just looked at three of your hubs. Two of them had the comment capsule deleted. That is, there is no way to leave a comment. I do not know if you did this intentionally or not, but if you wish to interact with others this is not a good way to start.
No I didn't do that on purpose, thanks for the tip
Hi,
Welcome to Hubpages!
Making friends is very easy in Hubpages.
Read the hubpages tutorial first. You will get some idea about the hubpages. Write hubs with quality content. Also read other hubs and write comments about the hub. Please write the comment whole heartedly. Do not spam. So that others will come to your hub and they will write comments.
Share your hubs and also promote your hubs through social websites. When you are sharing your hubs, whoever in your following list will receive an alert about your hub. Same as the case of you too. You will receive alerts of other hubs posted by the hubbers.
Also there is a Q&A section, where you can post questions and also you can post the answers where you are expert in some topics. There you can find friends.
So try all these methods, you will get lot of friends and followers.
Your Yin and Yang article is very interesting. You should add a comments capsule to it, so readers can leave comments. I am very big on Alternative Healing. I believe as you said, in intuition, our bodies tell us what is wrong and what we need if we pay attention. Nice articles

You have a new friend and big brother in me. Welcome aboard my brother, you see! Write until your heart's content. Be to the ladies, a real cool gent.
Welcome to HP, Evan! Hope you have a good time and enjoy yourself here. It's an awesome community with very helpful hubbers who will give you a hand. To answer your question, people with a lot of followers have typically been here for a while, write great quality hubs, and offer something to the community through participation.
Don't concern yourself with following a lot of people too soon or getting a heap of followers. It's not like Facebook or Twitter. Following will happen naturally through your involvement in the community, by the quality of the hubs you produce, and the support you give to others by commenting sincerely on their hubs. Also, participating in forums and Q&A will let others know you're here. I wish you peace and success.
If you comment on other people's hubs they will find you pretty fast, although I guess posting this in the forum did get you some attention.
Just like it's been said already, just interacting with other hubbers/ the community & writing/having good content will get you noticed/attract attention.
Welcome! I enjoyed your movie list. Like others have mentioned, add the comment box to all of your posts. I'm still fairly new myself and am enjoying the people here.
Thank you everyone for your input, it is much appreciated.
Welcome aboard, Evan. If you seek help with getting traffic, I'm afraid I can't be of much help there. If you need someone to proofread and edit a hub, just let me know through my Fan Mail. Blessings!
I will be friends with you I have followed you. Be sure to follow back
Hi Evan! Welcome to Hubpages. I hope you will enjoy it here.
Hi! I'm new too. It really is, so far, a very fun place. It's helped me to hone my writing skills which will hopefully be beneficial to my fiction writing!
I will be friends with you smile I have followed you. Be sure to follow back
Hi, and welcome.
It takes putting in the time to interact with people. Read others hubs, answer questions, comment on the forums etc. this also helps increase your huber score.
It can be nice to follow people who follow you if you want, this means you get to know them a bit, interact in each other's hub etc.
Put time into making great hubs and they will get people's attention.
Over all, have fun.

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

Do you reply back to each person who leaves a comment on your hubs? Please explain the reason why you do or do not. I am wondering if I need to do this or not since I have noticed that some folks do this pretty faithfully.

Does it bother you that people visit your hubs and don't leave comments? What's more important to you, getting tons of traffic with no comments or getting less traffic with comments? For me, I love to get comments because it lets me know if I have touched someone or given someone a new way of doing...

August 29, 2014 - Friday. Before I say my peace, I want to tell you that this forum post is not aimed at any one hubber or group of hubbers. Just read a hub that said, if you read a hub you must comment. Do you always do that?Just read a hub that said, if you read a hub you must comment. Also said we should all put copyright notice on our hubs. Am I the only one just now learning these rules?
