How do you get people to comment on your hubs?

Write something they don't like and they will be there.  It is important to read and comment on the hubs others write.  They in turn will read and comment on your hubs.
The thing I dislike the most are those who leave a comment such as "Great Hub."  You know in your heart they didn't read a single word of what you wrote.
The next thing I dislike are comments about something that is way off topic from what you wrote in the hub.about the marvel of the first moon landing, and get a comment back regarding the outcome of the next election.  That is just someone looking for a place to spew their hatred and political beliefs.  I would rather get no comments than way off topic comments.

Thank you Poolman for you very honest answer.I will  google the top thing people dislike and write about it.lol. It seems some hubs get alot of response (And yes some of that is "Great Hub" comments.)  and then others don't get any.  Again thank you

Firstly, Old Poolman made me laugh. I'll look him up soon. He got a reaction.I comment if a hub gets me involved in some way. It may make me smile, or feel sad, or think, wow, what a great point to make. Some subjects don't inspire a strong reaction. It doesn't mean they are poor or not worth writing about. I don't think comments are a way to judge the success of a hub anyway, though it's interesting to hear someone's view.

It just seems to me that comments are what keep you Hub alive and circulating.  Maybe I am wrong about that though.  Thank you for taking the time to answer.  I appreciate it.

Hae Rhonda. I know the feeling. You put in great effort into something and 'nobody' shows appreciation by leaving a comment. Look at it this way. What are the chances that someone researching over the internet coincidentally found an article you wrote useful, read and implemented it but never left a comment? Take heart in that... And just like Old Poolman, I would rather get no comment than get 'great hub'.

Thank you Scribble doo for you answer.  I guess I thought that there was a trick to getting comments-something that I didn't know.  Glad it's not just me.  But your right...I'd rather have the views. smile
