Where do you receive the most encouragement to be a Hubber?

It may be a person or a group. Might it be with the proactive changes HubPages is making toward an ideal? Possibly it is comments received on your Hubs. Is it the traffic you receive? Maybe it is in the forums or with questions. Perhaps it is within yourself completing a project with delight and a sense of gratification.

For me it is fellow hubbers who read my articles and make certain comments that just make me think maybe my writing does mean something to someone besides me.
For example, one was just a reader here and was so impressed with my articles and how they made her feel that she joined to share her own. Another made a simple comment about my poetry, "Only Jackie Lynnley could write a poem about anything!"
Of course there are many more in the years I have been here and they are far apart and not even weekly; they still mean so much to me to know I could be touching others who do not let me know about it and that does keep me keeping on!

Just seeing that people are reading what I wrote keeps me coming back. I haven't been getting as many comments as I used to, but knowing people are still stopping by after all this time helps.

Jackie you are an inspiring huber, you also have a great sense of humor , images I still laugh about , the ape with the hanging ninnies. And a few other articles you get to the point. I have my favorites here that build me up encourage me to express myself , you are one , and Kenneth Avery, And there are those you just disagree with that still encourage you to speak the truth no matter what the subject may be. Also Tsmog, it is very encouraging to hear postive question and answers you contribute to many aspects of life , seeing your name behind your work is positive support .
Also you are not being bias but you speak to all I appreciate that in you.

When I first signed up I'd already been writing on a number of other sites that told people, "write anything"  It turned out that I earned more money on here (with the revenue-sharing thing only; I'm not taking about sites that paid me a flat amount for a piece with or without revenue sharing as well).  Even after the first big Panda I was still earning (less, but still earning) with the kind of stuff I had on here at that time but have since deleted in many instances).  I pretty much abandoned those other sites because I could see that they eventually headed in a self-destructive direction.

I've been willing to ride it out here because I think I have a fairly decent idea of the kind of stuff that will get is own traffic without competing with what authority/specialist sites offer (even if that means staying with subjects that I, personally, can offer something a little different on, rather than try to compete "everything else that's out there on an authority/specialist site, and that's essentially some version of the same thing".)

Basically, and for now, I like how this site operates and see no reason to rule it out if I have something that I think deserves an audience and/or think deserves a place in search engines for someone who may be looking for something on a particular subject.  These days (and after a number of years) I'm just re-thinking and/or re-organizing some things with regard to what I'll post on here from now on.

Having said all that, maybe the one thing that i find most encouraging in general (and after first signing up with "writing sites" about ten years ago when "everyone" said that "nobody cares about proper English grammar any more"; and when there was actually a certain amount of verbal hostility flung in the direction of anyone who dared to say that grammar still matters to all kinds of people) is that people aren't saying "nobody cares about grammar" any longer (or at least not on this site).

As long as official word is that grammar matters I'm encouraged, because I can take it from there with regard to figuring out what kind of Hubs to post from now on.

Much of the encouragement I get is on here, Tim, although largely I'm self-motivated. I have a 'backlog' of subject matter I'd like to cover, and I have a book I'm working on in the RAVENFEAST series (No. 7 of 10).
Of course I've had positive comments - including from you - on many of the pages I've done so far, and that has something to do with the quantity of pages on divers historical and other themes I've published on here in the last few years (312 so far and counting). I've got a few in the pipeline in the 'HERITAGE' series.
